Baby Bank Campaign
What is the Baby Bank?
Our Baby Bank supports families across Shropshire with essential items when they are facing unprecedented challenges. All our items are donated by the local community or bought with money raised by our supporters.
The Baby Bank supports parents with essential items such as moses baskets, cots and baby baths along with clothing, nappies, wipes and toiletries for their little ones.

How does it work?
Midwives, health visitors and support agencies such as social services make a referral to us with the family’s details and requirements, and Little Stars then delivers the baby essentials for the family.

Our Impact
We ensure all families have the essentials they need for the start of the baby’s life and beyond. In a post-pandemic era more families than ever before are facing unprecedented challenges and need our support.
Frequently Asked Questions
We do not receive any Government funding and rely solely on your generous donations and fundraising in aid of us.
Your help through volunteering, monetary donations, or pre-loved items from our wish list is imperative for us to continue supporting families across Shropshire.
We support all of Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. We are the only baby bank service within Shropshire local authority.
Unfortunately we don’t accept self-referrals but accessing support from Little Stars is super-simple and can come as a referral through professionals such as doctors, midwives and health visitors, as well as through appropriate voluntary organisations.
They go to families in need. Some are referred to us by the Family Nurse Partnership, others by community midwives and health visitors. There are also other organisations who have our information and can refer to us.
We have our office in Shrewsbury which is by appointment only, please get in touch advising what you would like to donate and we can arrange an appointment for you.
Our wish list consists of the items which we desperately need, we use this to try and manage our stock levels as space is limited.
However, please contact us with details of what you’d like to donate, as referral requests come in all the time and our stock levels fluctuate.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept pre-loved car seats. This is because we are unable to safety check them and guarantee to a recipient that it has not been involved in an accident or has any internal damage.
We cannot accept pre-loved mattresses as we follow the safe sleeping guidelines so we provide a new mattress with each Moses basket/cot/cot bed we pass on.
Unfortunately we cannot accept cloth nappy donations. Firstly, we very rarely have requests for such items, and secondly, as our storage is limited we can’t hold items in stock which aren’t in demand. Lastly, the families we support often have limited washing facilities and there is a lack of space for drying. If we do have such a request, then we would try to accommodate by putting out a special request at the time.
We can only accept brand new electrical items such as baby monitors due to being unable to PAT test them before providing them to a family.
