Our Journey:
From personal experience to community impact
People often ask why I started Little Stars, and the answer is simple. While on maternity leave with my second child, I had a surplus of quality baby items. I wanted them to go to families who genuinely needed the support.
After researching local donation options, I discovered something surprising: while baby banks existed elsewhere in the UK, Shropshire had no service to help parents with these essential, costly items.
Having grown up in the deprived area of Harlescott, I personally experienced financial hardship and witnessed the challenges local families faced. I knew, without a doubt, that our community would benefit immensely from such a service.
So, in 2020, I took it upon myself to fill that gap and founded Little Stars as a baby bank to provide childhood essentials for those who needed a helping hand.
We began with one woman’s vision
In 2020, our founder Leanne, inspired by personal experiences of growing up in the deprived area of Harlescott Grange, she experienced firsthand the challenges faced by local families.
She witnessed friend’s parents struggling to afford school supplies, food, and clothing.
