A Busy few Months for Little Stars: Exciting Funding News!
The last few months of 2024 and the start of 2025 saw Little Stars’ mission being recognised, with incredible support from both local and national organisations. We were thrilled to be chosen as one of Wace Morgan’s Charities of the Year, a partnership that will help us continue supporting families in Shropshire. Alongside this fantastic news, we also received several generous grants from organisations that understand the growing need for our services.
With child poverty affecting 32% of children in Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin and demand for our referral services increasing by 176%, these grants will have a huge impact, ensuring we can provide essential items such as nappies and toiletries, children clothes and school uniforms, baby equipment and maternity wear to families in need across our county.
£5,000 from Comic Relief
We are incredibly grateful to Comic Relief for awarding us a £5,000 grant, funding that will go directly towards our baby bank and community hub services. Co-founded by Sir Lenny Henry and Richard Curtis in 1985, Comic Relief is dedicated to tackling poverty and supporting grassroots charities like ours, helping us reach more families and provide immediate, practical support. £2,000 from Wesleyan’s Winter of Giving
Through their Winter of Giving initiative, Wesleyan has awarded us a £2,000 grant, which will help us continue supplying essential provisions to struggling families. Wesleyan, a specialist financial services mutual, established the Wesleyan Foundation to support various charitable causes. Their Winter of Giving campaign focuses on assisting organisations that provide critical services to communities in need. For more information, visit their Winter Giving Page.
In addition, Practice Plan, part of the Wesleyan Group and based in Oswestry, generously supported our Santa’s Little Stars campaign, ensuring that hundreds of children had a gift to open on Christmas morning. Practice Plan is the UK’s leading provider of practice-branded dental membership plans, committed to supporting local communities.
£1,500 from The Barratt Foundation
We are delighted to have been nominated by the Mercia Division of Barratt Redrow PLC to receive a grant of £1,500 from The Barratt Foundation.
The Barratt Developments PLC Charitable Foundation helps Barratt’s divisions do more for local charities by enabling them to donate to a local charity that matters to them and improve the quality of life for those living in their area.
£700 from The Morley Family Trust
We also received a £700 grant from The Morley Family Trust, a charitable organisation that supports causes working to improve the lives of children and families. Their contribution will help us provide much-needed essentials to those facing financial hardship. While specific information about their funding initiatives isn’t publicly available, their support is deeply appreciated.
Each of these grants will make a tangible difference in the lives of families across Shropshire. As demand for our services continues to grow, we are incredibly grateful for the support of these organisations, which enables us to respond to the increasing needs of our community.
Thank you to Comic Relief, Wesleyan, Practice Plan, The Barratt Foundation, The Morley Family Trust, and Wace Morgan for believing in our work and helping us make a lasting impact.
