Family Stargazing Fundraiser Shines Despite Storm!
On Friday 3rd October, families braved stormy weather to join us at Rodington Village Hall for our Family Stargazing Evening in partnership with the Shropshire Astronomical Society. While the skies weren’t clear enough to stargaze, the event was still able to go ahead, with plenty of indoor activities keeping everyone entertained.
The evening was packed with fascinating astronomy talks, demonstrations about rocks and the solar system, and fun craft and colouring activities for our youngest supporters. Families enjoyed making rockets, learning about constellations, and exploring the wonders of space in a hands-on way: a truly educational and fun experience for all ages.
Meanwhile, the hall was filled with delicious smells thanks to Stephen, from Hungry Dogs, who provided hot dogs and fries with vegetarian and vegan options. Our three wonderful volunteers, Jane, Fiona and Emily, kept everyone fuelled with tea, coffee, and a fantastic bake sale, which went down a storm (pun intended!).
Thanks to everyone who joined us and supported Little Stars; we raised a fantastic £225.50. Every pound will help us continue providing vital support to children and families across Shropshire.
A huge thank you to the Shropshire Astronomical Society for donating their time and expertise, to Hungry Dogs for their amazing food, and to our volunteers and team for helping make the evening run so smoothly. And, of course, a big thank you to all the families who attended; your support made the evening truly special.
Even without the stars visible, the magic of the night was very much alive, and we’re already looking forward to future events where we can continue bringing our community together for learning, fun, and fundraising.
