Making a Difference: Our February & March Community Impact
The first few months of 2025 have demonstrated just how essential our services remain for families across Shropshire. As demand rises, our team and supporters have worked tirelessly to meet urgent needs with compassion, speed, and dignity.
Thanks to our wonderful volunteers and community donations, we’ve been able to respond to a wide range of referrals, providing children and families with items they need to feel safe and supported.
February: Essential Support Delivered
In February, we supported families through our referral services, delivering vital items to those who needed them most. Here’s what we provided:
· 10 Nighttime Essentials bundles
· 6 pieces of new baby equipment and 7 pre-loved items
· 8 adult toiletry packs & 14 children’s toiletries bundles
· 10 nappies and wipes bundles
· 13 clothing bundles
One particularly powerful referral came from a refugee support worker, requesting help for an Afghan family new to the UK. With both parents hoping to rebuild their independence, a double pram allowed the mother to walk her older children to school, enabling the father to seek part-time work.
“By having this donation of a double buggy, the mother can now walk to collect the older children from school, which in turn will allow the father to work. The walk is quite a distance, so without a doubt, the pushchair will be invaluable to this family.”

We also responded to an emergency formula request for a baby whose family had run out of milk, reminding us just how immediate our impact can be.

March: Meeting Urgent Needs, One Family at a Time
In March, we supported 70 children with essential items through thoughtful, tailored referrals. Our work included:
· 24 nappies and wipes bundles
· 34 clothing bundles
· 31 toiletries packs for adults and children combined
A few of the stories that stood out:
· A family displaced by a house fire, temporarily living in a hotel with three young children. Referred by a Health Visitor, we provided nappies, clothing, books, and toys to bring some comfort during an incredibly tough time.
· A child reunited with their father after being in care. Social services referred them to us for help, and we were able to respond with clothing, bedding, and hygiene items, thanks to the amazing response to our recent appeal.
· A mum experiencing sight loss during pregnancy, whose partner had to stop working to care for her. Referred by a midwife, we delivered toys and essentials to ease some of their financial pressure.
Another urgent referral came from a midwife supporting a woman who had fled domestic violence. She had nothing and was due to give birth soon. We were able to provide a complete bundle including:
· A pram
· A moses basket with new mattress
· Clothing
· Toiletries and nappies
· Baby bath and changing mat
· A pregnancy essentials pack
In a separate referral, we supported a family with twin babies, referred by the perinatal team. They were facing increasing costs while caring for two little ones. Thanks to a donation from Tesco Extra Telford, we provided nappies, summer clothing, baby hats, and feeding bottles.

A Shared Effort
Every bundle we provide is made possible by the collective effort of our team, volunteers, donors, and referral partners. Whether it’s a single bottle or a full newborn bundle, each item makes a meaningful difference.
This impact report is just a snapshot of the work we do every month and of the resilience and kindness that exists across our community.
As we continue to respond to the rising demand in 2025, we welcome anyone who would like to get involved. From donating and volunteering to raising awareness, your support means everything.
