Spotlight on Partnerships: The Alb and Little Stars

At Little Stars, we know that every partnership looks a little different. Some businesses prefer to support us through donations and publicity, while others love to get more hands-on. What matters most is that each collaboration is tailored to what works best for our partners and makes the biggest difference to local families.

That’s why we’re launching our new blog series: Spotlight on Partnerships. In each post, we’ll share how local businesses are working with Little Stars in unique and creative ways: showing that together, we can make a bigger impact.

Our first story is about The Alb, a vibrant pub, restaurant, and event venue in the heart of Shrewsbury town centre. Earlier this year, we were looking for a new home for our much-loved Musical Bingo fundraiser after our previous venue closed. Chantal, our Marketing and Fundraising Coordinator, reached out to Jay, the manager at The Alb. From the very beginning, it was clear this wasn’t going to be “just another venue hire.”

Jay and the team at The Alb generously offered us the space free of charge, but their support didn’t stop there. Within days of our first meeting, Jay visited our Little Stars shop and donated baby supplies for our baby bank. Since then, the partnership has grown into something special:

Musical Bingo: The Alb has welcomed our popular fundraiser, helping us raise vital funds while creating a fantastic night for the community.

Cocktail collaboration: Over the summer, The Alb invited Little Stars to create our very own cocktail, featured on their menu with a percentage of sales donated directly to us. This initiative raised £245 (and counting) and introduced Little Stars to a whole new audience.

Prizes and collections: The Alb donated some truly generous prizes to support our events, including a meal and wine for two, a cocktail masterclass for four, and a bottomless brunch for four. Over the summer, Jay also helped organise a collection of donations at a friend’s baby shower hosted at The Alb, showing how their support extends beyond fundraising events.

From Chantal, Little Stars Marketing & Fundraising Coordinator:

“Working with Jay and the team at The Alb has been such a joy. Their generosity and willingness to think outside the box has brought new energy to our fundraising. Partnerships like this show the power of community, and we’re so grateful for everything they’ve done for Little Stars this year.”

From Jay, Manager at The Alb:

“I’m delighted to be working in partnership with Little Stars, a cause that is very close to my heart. Supporting the wider community is something I truly value and hosting the recent Musical Bingo night was not only great fun but also a wonderful reminder of the huge support behind this amazing charity.”

He adds:

“At the beginning of summer, we met with the fantastic team at Little Stars who created their very own cocktail, the Starry Nights. We proudly featured it on our summer cocktail menu, donating 50p from every sale directly to the charity. Due to its success (and popularity), the Starry Nights cocktail will remain on our menu for the rest of the year. Cheers to great drinks, great people, and making a difference together.”

This collaboration shows what’s possible when businesses and charities work together in a creative and flexible way. It’s not about ticking boxes: it’s about making a real difference, in ways that feel authentic to both sides.

A huge thank you to Jay and the whole team at The Alb for everything they’ve done to support Little Stars this year. We’re so grateful for your generosity, creativity, and commitment to our families.
