The difference you made: our impact across April and May 2026
At Little Stars, behind every item we provide is a family being supported through a difficult time. April and May were busy months, and thanks to the generosity of our donors, volunteers and corporate partners, we were able to be there for families across Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin when they needed us most.
Real moments, real families
Sometimes the difference our support makes is easiest to see in the everyday moments it changes:
- A mum who had run out of nappies was provided with enough to keep her children clean and comfortable, preventing soreness, discomfort and ill health.
- A mum seeking refuge after fleeing domestic abuse received immediate support, including toiletries and pull-ups for her young children, at a critical moment.
- When a housing emergency left one family without their essentials, we stepped in to provide clothing bundles for both children, along with books, educational toys and toiletries to help them through an unsettling time.
We were also able to put together a number of full newborn bundles: providing everything a mum and baby might need for the first few months, including a Moses basket with a brand-new mattress, nappies, toiletries, clothing and cellular blankets, so families can welcome their little one with everything in place.
The difference, by the numbers
Across April and May, together we were able to provide:
- Support for 97 children and families across Shropshire
- 98 nighttime essentials, including Moses baskets, cots, cotbeds, toddler beds, mattresses, bedding, blankets and pyjamas
- 67 carefully selected clothing bundles for premature babies, newborns, growing children and families needing summer clothing
- 22 home safety items, including stairgates, to help protect children from everyday hazards
- 16 pregnancy packs for expectant mums to take with them for their hospital stays
None of this would be possible without the people who give their time so generously: our wonderful volunteers, alongside fantastic corporate support from partners including Aico, Unity Trust Bank and students from Shrewsbury School.
Thank you
Every donation, volunteer hour and partnership helps us continue to be there for local families when they need us most. Thank you to everyone who makes this possible.
